Where Are My Tor Hosting Backups Stored
Impreza Host automatically creates encrypted backups of all Tor Hosting environments to ensure data integrity and recovery in case of system failure, node migration, or maintenance events.
This guide explains where your backups are stored, how often they are created, and how to request a restoration.
Step 1 — Backup Location
All Tor Hosting backups are stored off-node, on isolated infrastructure not publicly reachable from the Tor network.
Each backup is replicated to two secure environments:
- Primary Storage: Internal encrypted storage connected directly to the Proxmox cluster.
- Secondary Storage: Offsite mirror in a private datacenter within the same legal jurisdiction (offshore location).
No backups are stored inside your visible /var/www or /home directories for security reasons.
You can confirm backup snapshots via SSH if you have administrative access:
root@tutorials:~# ls -lh /mnt/backup/
total 12G
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8.1G Oct 25 02:00 tor-site-1.qcow2.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3.9G Oct 25 02:00 tor-database.sql.gz

Step 2 — Backup Frequency and Retention
By default, Impreza Host performs:
- Daily incremental backups (file-level and database)
- Weekly full image snapshots (VM-level)
Retention policy:
- Daily backups kept for 7 days
- Weekly full backups kept for 4 weeks
- Automatic rotation deletes older data beyond the retention period

All data is compressed and encrypted using AES-256 before being transferred to offsite storage.
Step 3 — Restoration Requests
To request a restoration:
Log in to your client area:
https://portal.imprezahost.com/clientarea.php
Go to Support > Open Ticket.
Select the Tor Hosting / Technical Department.
In the message, include:
- Your onion domain(s)
- Approximate backup date to restore from
- Description of what needs to be restored (files, databases, or full instance)

After verification, the restoration is executed manually by the technical team.
Restores are usually completed within 6–12 hours depending on backup size and network load.
Step 4 — Manual Local Backups (Optional)
You can also create your own manual snapshot from within the VPS:
root@tutorials:~# tar -czf /home/backup/website-$(date +%F).tar.gz /var/www/html/
root@tutorials:~# mysqldump -u root -p database_name > /home/backup/db-$(date +%F).sql
To transfer your backup securely to local storage:
root@tutorials:~# scp /home/backup/*.gz user@yourserver.com:/backups/

Manual backups are recommended before large updates or configuration changes.
Step 5 — Security and Privacy
- All backup servers are hosted in privacy-friendly datacenters under offshore jurisdictions.
- Backup data is never shared, indexed, or analyzed.
- Access is strictly limited to the Impreza Host infrastructure team under encrypted connections.
- Restorations are only executed upon client authentication via the support portal.

Notes
- You are responsible for maintaining local copies if your project requires long-term archival storage.
- Restorations from deleted or expired services are possible for up to 15 days after termination.
- For high-security environments, custom offline backup plans can be requested.
If you need an immediate restoration or custom backup frequency, open a technical ticket:
